The state of Bahia, Brazil launches a blockchain application so as to track the process of public bidding on government contracts, as reported by Cointelegraph Brazil on July 12.
Dubbed as Online Bid Solution (SOL), this blockchain-based solution is Cayenne Technology and Design. Reportedly, the bids will be completely transparent and secure, all thanks to blockchain tech. As per Bahia goverment, SOL primary beneficiaries are purportedly the Brazilian agriculture industry.
Designed to connect agriculture organizations in Bahia so as to connect the suppliers and workers throughout Brazil, along with providing transparency on the contract bidding process. The state of Bahia claims that over 1,000 organizations are projected to use SOL:
“The application, already available in the Play Store and the Apple Store, will be used by about 1,100 agricultural associations and cooperatives in the states of Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte, under the Bahia Productive and Governo Cidadão, financed through a loan agreement between the state governments and the World Bank.”
Recently, the Brazilian coffee farming cooperative Minasul announced their plans to issue blockchain-based token for coffee farmers. The token will reportedly aid farmer to purchase a variety of goods and could be earned as a reward for harvesting coffee beans. Purportedly a useful economic system for the farmers, as this does not require registration in a notary’s office.
