One of the world’s most popular gaming companies, Atari, has announced its decision to enter into the crypto world. According to reports, the company is planning to release its own digital token, among other things.
Per a recent press release, Atari has revealed that it will launch the Atari Token.
“The Atari Group, one of the world’s most iconic consumer brands and interactive entertainment producers, announces today three major initiatives for its online activities: a music game based on the catalogue of the world renowned artist AVICII, an agreement to launch the Atari Token and a casino for crypto-currencies by September 30, 2020.”
According to the press release, the Atari Group in 2018, planned to create a blockchain project that will power the digital asset. The blockchain was also planned to power a decentralized platform for its customers to enjoy several forms of digital entertainment including films, music, and video games.
The company says it granted a license to Infinity Networks, Ltd (INL) to work on these projects back then. Because the projects did not run at the expected speed, the partnership between both platforms has been amicably terminated.
Last year, a motion picture about the life of Atari founder Nolan Bushnell was in the works.
