As we encounter the massive price rise of Bitcoin in an awe-struck manner, won’t it be equally amazing to think about the large number of Bitcoin billionaires that this digital wave has gifted to the world! The past three months alone registered a 150% rise in the price of Bitcoin which is rapidly racing towards $20000. Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss who came in to the spotlight after dragging Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to court were claimed to be the first ever Bitcoin billionaires as per The Independent newspaper. Given the current price rise of Bitcoin, the $11 million holding of the Harvard pass outs in 2013 could very well be valued more than $1 billion at present as per the calculation of The Independent.

BitInfoCharts.com is a website which lists out information about the Bitcoin holding address of individuals and tracks Bitcoin data. This website has revealed that more than 98000 Bitcoins are held by three such addresses which indicate the net holding of such individuals or companies to be well over 10 digit figures. Bitcoin exchange Bitfinex is known to hold one such account having a billion-dollar Bitcoin address. The other two account holders are anonymous as of now. A BitInfoCharts representative who wished to remain anonymous in the backdrop of certain security concerns recently told MONEY through an email that there can be as many as 200 Bitcoin billionaires given its overall market capitalization and multiple address holdings of people. The representative also confirmed that the Bitcoin billionaire figure in any case is not less than 35 and added that there exists high probability in most of these addresses being owned by hedge funds or exchanges.

The data extracted from BitInfoCharts also revealed that there exists more than 100 addresses holding Bitcoins worth $100,000,000 at the very least. Thus if the price of Bitcoin keeps on increasing then the number of Bitcoin billionaires will also increase simultaneously.  It was reported by The Independent that the Winklevoss twins are the “first public figures” who have reached the magic billion figure.

Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of this digital currency may have a Bitcoin holding worth more than $1 billion as per reports published by MONEY. Various experts including Bauerle believe that the Bitcoin address belonging to Nakamoto consists of approximately 980,000 Bitcoins which at its present valuation could be priced at $11.3 billion. Another website pointed out that the Winklevoss twins hold bitcoins worth a billion in aggregate and not individually. Thus using the billionaires plural for the twins will be highly incorrect.
