CheapAir is an online travel agency that offers affordable and inexpensive airline tickets along with other facilities like travel advisors, economical travel tips, and an amazing customer service.

The travel booking site made its appearance in the crypto space through the acceptance of the giant in the cryptocurrency list, Bitcoin [BTC] back in November 2013 while it subsequently expanded its BTC payment service to also include hotel and railway bookings.

In response to clients’ demands, the travel and tourism agency CheapAir chose to broaden its payment methods with cryptocurrency by accepting Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and DASH, in addition to BTC, for flight and accommodation bookings.

In addition, adding these cryptos as payment methods might also ensure cheaper fees and faster transactions. On the subject, CheapAir CEO Jeff Klee noted that the incorporation of these currencies has been a fairly straightforward process, given the prior experience with BTC payments which has been introduced by CheapAir in 2013.

CEO of CheapAir, Jeff Klee stated:

“We’ve had some success with bitcoin, we’ve gotten some new customers there – enthusiastic customers. We’ve gotten a great response since we began accepting [bitcoin], and we had some requests forDogecoinn and Litecoin (LTC). We figured why not?”

The trend of cryptocurrency payments has started now, however, CheapAir started it way. In an interview with CryptoGlobe, Jeff Klee tells about how major the part of cryptocurrency payments is in the CheapAir’s business. To which he said,

“It has definitely gone up in the last year. For most of the time we’ve been accepting it it’s been roughly 2-3%, but that number has grown as Bitcoin has become more popular. It’s still a minority of our business, but there are a few things we really like about it: it’s enabled us to reach customers from around the world. The profile of a Bitcoin customer is very different from our other customers, Bitcoin customers on average tend to buy more expensive tickets and what we really appreciate is the loyalty.”

Talking about Bitcoin and its popularity, Jeff Klee does not regret his decision of introducing BTC payments to the system. Many companies refrain from such payments keeping in mind the volatility of the coins. He said,

“I look back at this and it’s one of the best decision that I’ve ever made for my business. In some ways I kind of lucked into it, but it’s been fun.”
