Satoshi to Bitcoin (BTC) Converter

Every form of currency comes with smaller sub-divisions to aid in its transactions. For example “US Dollars” can be breaked into “Cents”, “Indian Rupee” can be breaked into“Paise”, and so on, The same rule prevails for Bitcoin- the most popular cryptocurrency having the highest market cap as well. Satoshi refers to the smallest unit of Bitcoin.

What is Satoshi ?

As mentioned above as well, Satoshi is the smallest fraction of one Bitcoin. 1 Bitcoin can be divided upto 8 Decimals and the smallest part of Bitcoin is known as “Satoshi”. Named in collective homage after the anonymous inventor of Bitcoin, SatoshiNakamoto, a unit of Satoshi is equivalent to 0.00000001 Bitcoin. Amounts are denominated in Satoshis in the blockchain before being converted for display. Satoshi is also used by the source code for specifying a Bitcoin amount with increased readability while displaying a fine fraction of the same for calculating faucet reward and fee per byte.

Bitcoin was recognised under ISO 4217 in 2015 and the following naming convention has been used since then:

Unit Value in satoshis Value in bitcoins Abbreviation
Bitcoin 100,000,000 1 BTC
Millibitcoin 100,000 0.001 mBTC
Microbitcoin 100 0.000001 BTC
Satoshi 1 0.00000001 Satoshi

The above chart can be simplified as following:

  • 1 BTC = 1,000 mBTC (millibitcoin)
  • 1 BTC = 1,000,000 BTC (microbitcoin)
  • 1 BTC = 100,000,000 Satoshis
  • 1 mBTC = 100,000 Satoshis
  • 1 BTC = 100 Satoshis

Converting Satoshi To Bitcoin

The currency conversion system explained above can be quite difficult to deal with. One has to to be careful while sending few satoshis to some dollars worth of BTC because of the decimals. One decimal here and there can either make you loose huge number of satoshis or may send less amount than what you intent to send.

Instead of getting into confusing process of calculating/converting Satoshis to 1 BTC, we suggest use this free and easy tool to convert Satoshi into 1 Bitcoin in matter of seconds.

Converting Satoshi To Fiat Currency

The extreme volatility in the rate of Bitcoin and fiat currency also makes the calculation process very difficult. First you need the benchmark price of fiat, then convert the number of satoshis to fiat or Bitcoin to Fiat. Again, a very cumbersome process. The above mentioned tool can be used to convert satoshis to fiat currencies. The tool supports the following conversions:-

  • Satoshi to USD ( United States Dollar),
  • Satoshi to EUR ( Euro),
  • Satoshi to GBP ( Great Britain Pound),
  • Satoshi to CAD ( Canadian Dollar),
  • Satoshi to CNY ( Chinese Yuan),
  • Satoshi to RUB ( Russian Rubble)

The above mentioned tools is one of the oldest satoshi to BTC converter but this tools supports only limited satoshi to fiat currency converters. There are various similar tools like  available which supports other major fiat currency conversions as well such as:-

  • Satoshi to INR ( Indian Rupee),
  • Satoshi to HKD ( Hong Kong Dollar),
  • Satoshi to AED ( United Arab Emirates Diram),
  • Satoshi to KRW ( South Korean Won),
  • Satoshi to SGD ( Singapore Dollar),
  • Satoshi to AUD ( Australian Dollar), etc

Or even just google Satoshi to “Your fiat currency name” or Bitcoin price in ” Your fiat currency name” and you will get the result.
