Craig Wright Produces Document Showing How He Chose The Satoshi Nakamoto Name

Controversial Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) creator Craig Wright, has revealed a document that purportedly shows where the “Satoshi Nakamoto” name came from. In a recent interview with Modern Consensus, the self-proclaimed Bitcoin creator showed a document that is supposedly from JSTOR, a database of academic publications.

Dated Jan. 5, 2008, the document is an article about a Tominaga Nakamoto who was alive between 1715 and 1746 and was in itself from a Japans journal – Monumenta Nipponica. The connection with Nakamoto was quoted in the document in a few lines:

“Nakamoto is the Japanese Adam Smith. Honest Ledger + Micro Cash. Satoshi is Intelligent History. Not too hard.”

Adam Smith is widely referred to as the father of economics and also the father of capitalism. Wright suggests that he chose the Nakamoto name because he was inspired by Tominaga Nakamoto, who is the Japanese Adam Smith. Speaking on choosing Nakamoto because of his economic achievements, Wright said:

“I like the description of him, and I got into his brother, Toka. ‘Nakamoto was upright and quiet but impatient in character’ and I thought, that sounds like me.’”

On where he got the “Satoshi” part from, Wright said:

“Satoshi, the actual meaning is “intelligent learning.” It’s about ancestors, smart and wise ancestors.”

Months ago, Wright failed to provide proof of access to early Bitcoin addresses, souring his claim as the original Satoshi.
