HTC to Allow Exodus Users Mine Cryptocurrency in Q2

Exodus

Popular tech company HTC has announced that it plans to introduce crypto mining to its Exodus blockchain phone, allowing users to produce crypto.

According to a recent Forbes report, HTC has partnered with Midas Labs to bring mining to mobile users. The feature will be possible via Midas Labs’ DeMiner app and will be available sometime before July 2020. Exodus users will be able to mine Monero (XMR).

Further details specify that on a daily basis, users will be able to mine up to $0.0038 worth of XMR every day. HTC also says that the amount of power used to mine the XMR will be less than 50% of income derived from the mining process.

This is a very small amount and is probably worth next to nothing in the grand scheme of things. Exodus users will not be able to mine enough XMR to make them rich or even have any significant effect on their finances. HTC realizes this and says the aim is not to make Exodus owners rich. The company is rather focused on the decentralization of mining. According to HTC’s Decentralized Chief Officer Phil Chen:

“At HTC, our position is to use the mobile phone to drive further decentralization. The mobile phone has become the primary computing device of the people and making it accessible to everyone empowers the people. In other words, the question is not should we use an ASIC or a CPU. The question is how can we further decentralize and ensure a more inclusive monetary system?”
