IOTA Foundation Releases Updated Trinity Wallet Desktop Version

Ngrave

The IOTA Foundation has had issues for a few days now, related to a network breach and stolen funds. Now, the network has announced a new and safe version of the Trinity wallet that was compromised.

On February 12, IOTA announced on its status page that it had received numerous reports of theft of funds. Realizing that its network security had been breached, IOTA asked members of its community to “keep your Trinity wallet closed for now.”

Shortly after the update, IOTA announced that it had shut down its Coordinator node, essentially taking the entire network offline. This was done so that “no further theft can occur until we find out the root cause of these thefts.”

Even though the network is still essentially shut down, IOTA released a desktop version of its Trinity wallet. The Foundation is asking members to login using the new wallet to check the status of their accounts. Anyone who notices anything odd is asked to report via Discord.

“If your balance does not look correct or you have unrecognized outgoing transactions, please contact a Discord mod or member of the IOTA Foundation directly on Discord. Please be aware that there are unfortunately active imposters posing as IOTA Foundation personnel on our Discord.”

In December, IOTA’s network was technically halted for 24 hours.
