In the cryptosphere, John McAfee is quite popular, almost as popular as Craig Wright. McAfee is known for making several bullish pronouncements about Bitcoin. Now, he seems to have lost hope in the king coin and has derided the technology.
Back in 2017, the entrepreneur took to Twitter in support of Bitcoin as he normally would. According to the tweet back then, McAfee predicted that Bitcoin will hit $500k in 3 years. He then added that if it doesn’t happen, “I will eat my dick on national television.”
In another tweet a few months later in the same year, he doubled his prediction.
“I now predict Bitcoin at $1 million by the end of 2020. I will still eat my dick if wrong.”
McAfee has now changed his mind. According to a tweet posted on Sunday, he said the tweet was just a “ruse”.
“Eat my dick in 12 months? A ruse to onboard new users. It worked. Bitcoin was first. It’s an ancient technology.”
In the tweet, McAfee added that newer blockchains have better features and Bitcoin cannot be the future of cryptocurrency.
“Newer blockchains have privacy, smart contracts, distributed apps and more. Bitcoin is out future? Was the Model T the future of the automobile?”
