Microsoft Files Patent For New Crypto Mined by Body Activity

Microsoft

Microsoft has officially filed to patent an idea for a new cryptocurrency and mining system, quite different from available methods. Instead of the complex mining rigs all too common in the crypto sector, Microsoft intends to use a person’s body activity.

In the patent document titled “Cryptocurrency System Using Body Activity Data”, Microsoft suggests that mining the cryptocurrency could require very little activity from the user, as long as it’s based on specific information provided.

“a brain wave or body heat emitted from the user when the user performs the task provided by an information or service provider, such as viewing an advertisement or using certain internet services, can be used in the mining process.”

According to the document, this activity would be measured via a wearable device that would be connected to a crypto server from which specific instructions will originate. The server will also verify the activity data.

Microsoft says certain tasks would require varying amounts of computational energy, directly translating to varying amounts of physical activity.

So far, it is unclear whether or not Microsoft will approve work on its new system. The patent also did not say if the crypto will be powered by a blockchain.

In November last year, Microsoft announced a new product that will allow businesses to easily create blockchain tokens.
