Mizuho Financial Group is looking to foster Japan’s blockchain ecosystem, Neutrino by sponsoring a new dedicated co-working space in downtown Tokyo.
Established by Omise Japan, Neutrino aims to foster blockchain ecosystem in Japan by advancing research into operational streamlining using blockchain technology and developing businesses that leverage the technology. It is located in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward.
Mizuho Financial Group is one of Japan’s 3 megabanks, along with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group. Mizuho told in a statement,
“In addition to sponsoring Neutrino, Mizuho will be a long–term tenant of the coworking space, and we look forward to finding applications for blockchain technology and being able to develop new business areas together with the wide variety of sponsors, members, and other specialists Neutrino plans to attract,”
Omise and Tokyo-based VC firm Global Brain established the co-working space in March this year. The first venue was set-up in Shibuya, a major business and commercial center in Tokyo, which is also the largest start-up hub in Japan. Neutrino works towards strengthening the blockchain community, fostering innovation, and promotes learning in a group.
Neutrino will provide a place to discuss the practical use cases of blockchain technology with sponsor companies, tenant members and experts. It aims to cooperate with diverse entities to connect blockchain technology to real business.
Mizuho has previously experimented and developed a number of blockchain applications in record keeping, cross-border securities transactions, trade finance with tech partner IBM and document sharing.
Neutrino’s official website states:
“Neutrino will make opportunities for exchange between the block chain startup planned to be moved and the sponsor company, and will contribute to the formation of the ecology system of the block chain industry in Japan and promotion of incubation.”
