Opera Pioneers Direct In-Browser Bitcoin and TRON Payments

Popular web browser, Opera, has announced that it will now support sending and receiving more digital assets directly via the browser, without having to visit any third-party services. Opera has now on-boarded support for both Bitcoin (BTC) and TRON (TRX) on its Crypto Wallet, allowing its users to not only trade among each other, but also use it to buy products and services as well, on supported online platforms.

According to Opera’s Head of Crypto Charles Hamel, the decision to integrate crypto support with the browser came from the need for the company to keep up with ongoing tech trends and innovations especially with the world’s number one digital currency. Now that Bitcoin has been added, more than 350 million people who use the browser worldwide, now have access to crypto trading, improving adoption as well.

“We believe that opening our browser to more blockchains, including Bitcoin, is the logical next step to making our solution more relevant to anyone who has a Bitcoin crypto wallet and would like to do things with their cryptocurrencies beyond just keeping them in an account.”

Before now, Opera had announced this feature and a beta version was released a few months ago in July. Back in February, Opera already did announce support for Ether (ETH).

Opera in July, launched the iOS version of Opera Touch, its mobile web browser. Opera Touch includes support for the Ethereum network and as such, can handle any Ethereum based projects including all ERC-20 tokens as well as decentralized applications (DApps).
