After FTV, it’s now Playboy showing interest in cryptocurrencies. Playboy is adding cryptocurrency payments to its digital content, the company announced recently. The Playboy crypto wallet, set for release by the end of 2018, will let viewers use Bitcoin and Ethereum to buy the products and services offered by PlayboyTV.

The company is at the development stages of the Cryptocurrency wallets that is going to be a chief medium to accept payments in cryptocurrencies. This wallet will be exclusively operational on Playboy’s entire network of sites, which will provide increased flexibility in payment methods for customers, as stated by Reena Patel, chief commercial officer and head of operations.

Playboy will also accept the Vice Industry Token, a new cryptocurrency designed specifically to monetize adult content by incentivizing high user engagement.

The company also mentioned about VIT, Vice Industry Token which currently holding only ICO’s but is gaining huge popularity amongst adult-industry based platforms like Playboy and Penthouse. This in turn may boost cryptocurrency’s prices, particularly Ethereum which are otherwise covered in the news for it’s fluctuating market price.

Patel further added,

“This innovation gives the millions of people who enjoy our content, as well as those in the future who participate in our casual gaming, AR and VR platforms, more choices with regard to payment and in the case of VIT, an opportunity to be rewarded for engaging with Playboy offerings.”

Forbes commentator Karl Kaufman said,

“This technology could not only disrupt the adult entertainment industry, but it could also change the way consumers interact with all forms of content online”

Playboy doesn’t share its financial information, but according to the Wall Street Journal, in 2015, the company made $38 million from its magazine and digital publishing efforts, and $55 million from licensing. Therefore, in the world where digital currency is introduced, exchange and payment through digital assets could progress the company’s turnover like never before.

At the same time, the network of people involved in Bitcoin and blockchain seem a little apprehensive of how it is going to turn out to tie up with a high unrelated platform.

The consortium of partners gathered by VIT under its network are therefore promisingly planning to engage more customers in the future, provided the rewards are suitably attractive.
