Polygon Partners with Swiss City Lugano on Crypto Initiative

Polygon recently announced that the Swiss city of Lugano has made it the official blockchain platform of the province.

Lugano, an Italian-speaking city in the southern part of Switzerland, also recently declared Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether (USDT) as “de facto” legal tender. The city, with a population of 62,000 people, also included its LVGA token into the mix. Consequently, Lugano residents will be able to transact business using the aforementioned digital currencies. Options for usage include payment of taxes, parking tickets, public services, and tuition fees for students.

Lugano’s crypto initiative appears to follow in the footsteps of El Salvador. On September 7th, the Central American nation legally adopted BTC as its legal tender. The move made El Salvador the first country in the world to do so, and it has since doubled its BTC commitment efforts. These include mining the tokens from volcanoes, planning a dedicated ‘Bitcoin City,’ and repeatedly “buying the dip”.

Polygon Partners with Telefónica Tech

Polygon also announced another partnership with Spanish telecom giant Telefónica Tech in an official blogpost. Pursuant to the collaboration, Polygon will offer Web3-based solutions to Telefónica Tech’s commercial clients. Speaking on the development, Antoni Martín, enterprise lead at Polygon said:

“Working with top-tier global companies like Telefónica Tech is central to Polygon’s mission to bring millions of people to Web3. Together we will explore opportunities where Polygon’s scaling solutions can add value across NFTs or the supply chain.”
