Ripple: Private Jet Charter, TapJets Rises in Support As Lawsuit Takes Interesting Turn With More Amicus Briefs Surfacing

According to the update shared by former federal prosecutor, James K.filan, TapJets, a private jet charter company, has requested to file an amicus brief in support of Ripple. TapJets accepts XRP in exchange for its services. TapJets makes a persuasive argument that the acceptance of XRP as payment for services is vital.

Likewise today, Philippines-based remittance company and also Ripple partner, I-Remit requested to File Amicus Brief in Support of Ripple Against SEC. I-Remit, a global payment remittance company and a user of Ripple On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) service requested permission to file an amicus brief supporting Ripple motions for summary judgment.

For I-Remit, it uses the RippleNet software to facilitate cross-border settlements in the Philippines. The company also noted its heavy reliance on XRP in its cross border settlements.“I-Remit has deep knowledge of these technologies that will aid the Court’s evaluation of the arguments advanced by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission,” the remittance company added.

Recent Developments

A few weeks ago, the world’s largest blockchain trade association, the Chamber of Digital Commerce requested permission to file an amicus brief in Ripple support. The court granted the Chamber of Digital Commerce’s request to file an amicus brief after reviewing its documents.

Commenting on the chamber of digital commerce request to file the amicus brief, the SEC stated no opposition, but noted that if another third-party requests to file an amicus brief in the lawsuit, it will seek more time and extra pages to respond.

James K.Filan remarked that this was targeted at John E. Deaton, Cryptolaw founder, who is also expected to file an amicus brief in the lawsuit. However things are getting interesting as two Ripple users are requesting to file amicus briefs in the case.

As reported by kryptomoney, Ripple has scored another major win as the SEC loses privilege issues before Judge Torres. In a recent court ruling, Judge Torres ordered that the SEC turn over the emails of its former employee, William Hinman, after much foot-dragging from the agency.

According to an update shared by the former federal prosecutor, James K. Filan, ‘’Judge Torres overrules the SEC objections and orders the SEC to turn over the Hinman documents”. Ripple’s general counsel, Stuart Alderoty, expresses optimism that this would be the sixth and hopefully final court decision that will allow Ripple to gain access to the Hinman documents.
