Surat, The Diamond Processing City Of India Tops The Chart With Highest Bitcoin Searches in 2017

The Bitcoin fever has spread over the entire world with more and more people taking the help of internet to widen their cryptocurrency knowledge. The industrial hub of Surat located in the western coast of India has already earned accolades as the leader of diamond processing on a global basis. But it has again emerged in the spotlight after Google Trends data revealed that Surat has topped the charts in terms of relative interest while searching about Bitcoin in 2017. This city surpassed a large number of others while searching the World Wide Web for new avenues of crypto investments. Thus, amongst all the searches which were originated from Surat, the ones related to Bitcoin was proportionately higher in comparison to other cities.

Cities such as New Delhi, capital of India and San Jose, Yonkers, Cape Town outside the national boundary of India lost out to Surat in the race of search frequencies. Two other Indian cities came into limelight with their crypto based searches – Pimpri-Chinchwad (Pune) at the seventh place and Gurugram at the eighth place amongst top ten.

Noida received the 12th position, Jaipur came 23rd, New Delhi came 52nd, Mumbai came 73rd, Bengaluru came 81st, Kolkata came 88th, Ahmedabad came 94th and Pune bagged the 100th position in terms of relative interest while conducting Bitcoin related searches in the last fiscal.

147 cities were listed by the Google Trends data when location having lower search volumes were taken into consideration. But when such cities having low search volume was excluded from the list, Gurugram showcased the maximum interest in Bitcoin amongst its national peers. It received a fifth ranking on the global scale just after Yonkers, San Jose, Capetown and The Hague.

2017 had been a phenomenal year for both cryptocurrencies and the underlying blockchain technology. Bitcoin, the leader of the cryptocurrency crusade reached record heights in terms of price paving numerous success stories. Blockchain on the other hand received a warm welcome globally as companies started integrating it in their existing system for benefitting from the synergy. With more and more institutional investors getting lured in to the market of digital tokens, retail investment also underwent exponential growth causing ‘cryptocurrency’ to become one of the hottest search words of 2017.

Amongst regions showcasing low search volumes, Surat could easily be seen topping the list. India however was lagging much behind other nations on a global scale and could not even make it to the list of top 20 countries filtered as per relative interest in Bitcoin. The numero uno slot has been attained by South Africa with Slovenia and The Netherlands at the second and third tier respectively.
