Axie Infinity, a booming gaming altcoin, is redistributing over $60 million worth of its AXS tokens to a special category of players. These are players who helped pioneer AXS’ launch back in 2020. Axie Infinity (AXS) has surged by a staggering 13,000% since the beginning of the year. The token experienced mass adoption from crypto enthusiasts and gamers alike. This is why to celebrate AXS’ staking update, platform co-founder Jeff Zirlin announced via Twitter that early adopters get 800,000 AXS tokens. Zirlin’s statement read:
“Today, we will distribute 800,000 AXS to the missionaries that helped form the bedrock of our digital nation. This is over 60,000,000 USD worth of tokens and represents our commitment to making sure that Axie becomes a community-owned game.”
AXS has a max supply of 270,000,000 tokens, and with about 58,000,000 in circulation, the team plans to release the rest over time. They intend to execute this through staking, gameplay rewards, and ecosystem reward structures. In addition, the Axie Infinity team also included additional information in their promo terms and conditions. The team stated that users who played Axie Infinity before October 26th, 2020 would receive tokens via the airdrop. The official statement read, “If you played Axie Infinity before October 26th, 2020 check your wallet.”
AXS is currently trading at $72.90 according to CoinGecko.
