Tech Mahindra All Set to Launch Blockchain Centre Within R&D Arm

The centre will be set up at its Research and Development (R&D) arm ‘Makers Lab’ and facilitate co-innovation in this emerging field, and developing enterprise-grade solutions for customers across industries globally.

In order to facilitate competency in the field, the company has launched the Tech Mahindra BlockGeeks Program. In its first phase, it will upskill a batch of 20 candidates.

The company stated:

“Together, they aim to build on the existing strong relationship with the governments, and in due course expand to neighboring states. The ultimate goal through this partnership is to have the open-source technology platform powering a rich ecosystem of applications both in land registration and beyond, on a global scale.”

Under the TechM BlockGeeks, eligible candidates will undergo comprehensive training in the lab, post which they will be required to set up code, create smart contract and build solutions, thereby gaining technical proficiency in Blockchain technology, the statement said.

“As part of our reskilling initiative, we are providing a comprehensive training to candidates to enable them to leverage next-generation technologies and facilitate end-to-end Blockchain-led transformation for our customers. We are targeting around 3,000 ‘blockgeeks’ to be trained by FY19,”

The COE will focus on developing cutting-edge solutions in digital technologies. For this, it has collaborated with leading academic institutes, accelerators and innovators in the start-up ecosystem.
