Telegram, an encrypted instant messaging service officially releases test client for its Telegram Open Network (TON) via some files posted on test.ton.org.

As per the readme information file, these new files are a distribution of a preliminary version of the TON Blockchain Network Lite Client and include relevant portions of the TON Blockchain Library.  The archive of files is a simplified stable version of the Lite Client.

A GitHub user seemingly uploaded a version of the client on May 25 and as per the readme file on GitHub, the client connects to a full node for the TON blockchain testnet, if configured properly. The user sent some queries to it.

Alon with installing Lite Client, the users could also install a configuration file for smart contract development that will connect the lite client to a special server. Wherein users could enable a number of features such as creating new smart contracts, sending external messages to smart contracts and auditing the state of existing among other things.

Notably, the file further elaborates that the users can purportedly deploy Fift in order to compile, execute, and debug smart contracts locally. The programming language for TON, Fift was released last week. It is specifically designed to develop and manage TON blockchain smart contracts, and to interact with the TON Virtual Machine.

In April, Telegram reportedly introduced a private beta testing of the TON blockchain to a limited number of global developers. Though no specific inference was recorded while testing, two anonymous testers claim that the TON Blockchain has had an “extremely high transaction speed.”
