The President And COO Of Coinbase Leaves The Company

 Asiff Hirji, the president and chief operating officer (COO) of a major cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase has left his said position and the company, as reported Bloomberg on May 31.

The publishing quotes a source familiar with the issue that Emilie Choi, the vice president of business, data and international has been named Coinbase’s new COO. Choi has an impressive resume with companies such as Yahoo Inc., the original Alibaba investment and Flickr acquisition including. Prior to her appointment as COO, Choi worked on potential partnerships and acquisitions at Coinbase.

As for Hirji, his previous work experience includes over 15 organizations in the likes of  IBM Canada, venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, and information technology company Hewlett-Packard. 

Coinbase has had lost several of its senior executives in the recent months, Tim Plakas, former head of OTC at Coinbase switched to Galaxy Digital, a cryptocurrency bank founded by Michael Novogratz and compliance officers Mikheil Moucharrafie and Jeff Cartwright who joined Facebook.

The chief technology officer of Coinbase, Balaji Srinivasan announced his departure in early May. In his tweet, he talked about having a good time at the exchange and now he plans to take time off “to get back in shape — and up to speed on everything happening”, while his work at Coinbase.
