The cryptocurrency market has held the $150 billion mark really well since last Sunday fluctuating between $140 billion and $151 billion, with Bitcoin (4% up), Ripple (30% up) and Neo (10% up) being the biggest gainers in the top ten cryptocurrency list. Bitcoin broke the $4500 mark for the first time today amid expectations of a contentious hard fork that is expected to take effect in mid November. The market has been very steady for the last one week which is a good indicator of people’s trust in cryptocurrencies after the recent ban of ICO in China and South Korea
Bitcoin is likely to see another major hard fork in November which is going to create a new Segwit2x chain, which will be called Bitcoin Gold. Futures for Bitcoin Gold have already started trading on Bitfinex at around $1300 and price for Bitcoin is expected to keep going up until the fork as more and more people want to acquire free Bitcoin Gold tokens. If the Bitcoin Cash hard fork is any indication, the trends could remain bullish for the next one month with Bitcoin reaching new all time high prices following the hard fork.

As the hard fork approaches, the market is expected see much more volatility in Bitcoin prices and Altcoins prices have already started the slow bleed which could be expected til mid November. However, privacy coins like Monero and Dash along with other established coins like Ethereum have not seen a lot of movement so they’re a good store of value for people who simply do not want to be a part of the mayhem that fork is expected to bring.
