With over 93 M followers, PewDiePie is the world’s most popular YouTuber by subscriber numbers and now to expand his empire more, the 29-year-old Swedish content creator joins blockchain-based live streaming platform DLive.

Felix Kjellberg aka PewDiePie signs an “exclusive” live streaming deal with DLive as per the announcement by the platform on Tuesday. At the press time, PewDiePie had around 93.7  million subscribers, with his most recent video racking up 4 million views in less than 24 hours.

DLive is a decentralized community built using the Lino blockchain. PewDiePie will stream weekly on DLive, starting April 14. On his official DLive channel, PewDiePie also added in order to support other content creators on the platform he will be donating up to $50,000 to a maximum of 100 creators.

As per online sources, Kjellberg is Youtube’s ninth biggest earner, taking $15.5 million in 2018. DLive also brought on board the topper of the list, a seven-year-old toy reviewer called Ryan whose earning is quoted to be $22 million via youtube. The DLive platform will pay both these content creators and viewers using its native token, “Lino points.”

In comparison to other platforms, who up to 50 percent of creators’ income and in turn affecting the “viability and livelihood” of the community, DLive will take no percentage of earnings and will not charge any fees to content creators, as stated by the platform. Lino Network co-founder Wilson Wei commented:

“DLive is a place where instead of competing against each other, it benefits creators to support one another. With no platform cuts, we incentivize everyone to create the highest quality content for viewers.”

In February 2018, Lino raised $20 million in order to build a “YouTube on the blockchain” in a private token sale led by ZhenFund. At the time, Wei claimed that he expects that by this platform, the content creators to garner three-to-five times the profits they make on YouTube or its competitor, Amazon-owned live streaming video platform Twitch.

PewDiePie said in today’s announcement:

“I’m excited to start live streaming again regularly! DLive is great for me because I’m treated like a real partner, just like all of the other streamers on DLive’s unique platform.”
