The latest Bitcoin news comes from Delhi, the capital of India where a drug racket was busted by the Delhi police in which the payment for drugs were made in Bitcoins.

According to the news published on 7 November, 2017 by Hindustan Times , one of the India’s leading news publication, two persons identified as Kamal Kalra and Mahesh Goyal were arrested by Delhi police crime branch. The accused were involved in a network of drug dealing where the drugs were  sold in “Rave Parties” in Delhi/NCR and the payments were received in Bitcoins.

Kamal Kalra, a DJ plays music in rave parties in Delhi-NCR. The accused were arrested with around 62 grams of Ecstasy (MDMA),a psychotropic substance sold in tablets and powder form worth INR 3 Lakhs, reveals Delhi Police.

Rajesh Deo, deputy commissioner of police (crime), said Goyal disclosed that the illegal online drug trade is done through “deep web”.

“This illegal business works on peer group model and it spreads from one user to another through word of mouth. Goyal had first consumed ecstasy at a rave party in Chennai and learnt that it can be procured through online shopping using websites like ‘dream market’ by operating in deep web accessed through browsers like ‘tor browser’ and ‘onion browser’,” said Deo.

“The payment for the consignment is done through ‘Bitcoin’ and the delivery is made by post and courier from countries such as the Netherlands and the US,” said Alok Kumar, joint commissioner of police (crime).

The Delhi police have approached the NCB i.e, Narcotic Control Bureau and Ministry of Electoronics & IT to make sure that such online trades should be stopped . The Delhi Police are also investigating how the supply of drugs via couriers in India from other countries is going undetected and unchecked.
