Unstoppable Domains Launches New Decentralized Chat Protocol

Decentralized web firm, Unstoppable Domains, has launched a new chat protocol for its users.

Dubbed ‘Unstoppable Chat (dChat)’, the decentralized chat focuses on providing users with a secure chatting platform. It achieves this through its end-to-end encryption protocol and a peer-to-peer (P2P) network. dChat promises to be different from most major messengers such as WhatsApp and Facebook’s Messenger even though they all use a similar protocol.

One major feature that sets dChat apart from the rest is that a user can have more control over the encryption and storage process. A user can use their private server instead of a shared server.

To gain full control, a user must have a private key, specifically, an Ethereum wallet private key. The integration between the chat platform, the P2P network, and the crypto wallet gives dChat an added multi-level security.

At the moment, dChat is only available on web browsers. The company says it’s still working on a mobile app for its users.

Unstoppable Domains has also granted some reputable third-party crypto services such as MyEtherWallet and imToken access to dChat. The crypto wallet services can now have a chat on their platforms.

The project is being nurtured by Mozilla’s “Fix the Internet” incubator.
