Bitcoin Services

Financial services company Visa now offers Bitcoin services to its bank clients with the help of its new API pilot program. Now, users of banks that operate under the Visa network will have access to Bitcoin with the help of Visa’s crypto partner, Anchorage. Bitcoin is currently up 4.27% to $36,837.

Visa CEO Alfred Kelly said that the payment giant is “uniquely positioned” for the new service it now offers. During the company’s first-quarter earnings call for the 2021 fiscal year, he said:

“In this space, we see ways that we can add differentiated value to the ecosystem. And we believe that we are uniquely positioned to make cryptocurrencies more safe, useful and applicable for payments through our global presence, our partnership approach and our trusted brand.”

During the earnings call, Kelly stated that Visa pans to collaborate with wallets and exchanges. The collaboration is expected to allow Visa customers to purchase digital assets with their Visa credentials. Kelly added that Visa customers would also be able to make fiat purchases at any of its 70 million merchants worldwide.

The CEO further revealed that already, 35 of the crypto platforms and wallets have agreed to “issue Visa [credentials] including coin-based Crypto.com, BlackFi, Fold, and BitPanda.”

In addition, Visa would be launching its debit processing system in Europe. Visa said it plans to expand its Visa DPS globally. Last year, a Visa exec urged people to escape inflation by entering the Bitcoin market.
