Yandex, a multinational corporation focussing on Internet-related products and services have conducted a recent study on search queries placed by Kazakhstanis on cryptocurrency related topics as reported by Zakon. The people from Kazakhstan seem to have caught the cryptocurrency bug and have been revealed to be increasingly searching words combined with “cryptocurrency.” The news outlet elaborated saying that,
“In early 2018, Kazakhstan residents made about 15 times more requests with this word [cryptocurrency] than in the same period of 2017.”
The publication detailed that, “users ask Yandex 7 times more than in early 2017” about search item “bitcoin.”
- “what is a blockchain in simple words for dummies?”,
- “can a schoolboy work for bitcoin?”,
- “where to get money for a mining farm?” ,
- And “how much does mining pay really?” were also asked to Yandex by Kazakhstanis.
Cryptocurrncy mining malware had also caught the eye of the searchers who asked the Yandex “how to find out if I have a mining virus.” They had also researched about available softwares and solutions which can be of great help in safeguarding against such malware attacks.
The quantum of cryptocurrency related searches underwent a meteoric rise from last June to September as revealed by the news outlet which added that:
“10 times more often users from Kazakhstan began to ask Yandex about video cards for mining and how to mine.”
June and July experienced the biggest jump in this topic as the price of cryptocurrencies went spiralling up the ladder. It was further revealed by Yandex that:
“The query ‘to buy graphics cards’ saw the biggest increase last month”.
The news outlet described that search requests for the word ICO by Kazakhstanis have increased “4 times more often than a year earlier.” This positive trend was noted since last November coupled with increasing searches for keywords such as “prospective ICO”, “ICO projects” and “ICO support.” Four employees belonging to the country’s Ministry of Finance were caught last month while mining cryptos.
